HEART: The Taliban on Wednesday introduced their first attack on a provincial capital in Afghanistan, since waging a significant offensive towards govt forces, native officers mentioned.
Fierce combating has erupted within the western town of Qala-i-Naw, the capital of Badghis, after militants captured the entire surrounding districts of the province.
“The enemy has entered town, the entire districts have fallen. The combating has began within the town,” Badghis governor Hessamuddin Shams informed newshounds in a textual content message.
Badghis provincial council leader Abdul Aziz Bek and council member Zia Gul Habibi showed that combating between the Taliban and govt forces had erupted within the town.
“Combating continues in numerous portions of town at this time,” Bek informed AFP, including that some safety officers had surrendered to the Taliban all the way through the evening.
Provincial council member Habibi mentioned the Taliban have been within the police headquarters of town and the native place of business of the rustic’s secret agent company, the Nationwide Directorate of Safety.
“The provincial council officers have fled to a military camp within the town. Combating continues within the town,” she mentioned.
